BP load predicts cardiovascular damage in children

Key clinical point: BP load control is an emerging metric of pediatric hypertension control.

Major finding: Both load category and load as a continuous variable were significant predictors of arterial stiffness and diastolic dysfunction even after adjustment for age, sex, body mass index, and mean daytime ambulatory systolic blood pressure (P less than 0.0001).

Study details: Prospective investigation of 339 adolescents

Disclosures: The work was funded by the American Heart Association and the National Institutes of Health. The investigators had no commercial disclosures.
