Wrong cuff size throws off pediatric BP by 5 mm Hg
Key clinical point: You can get a good estimate of blood pressure in children even when the cuff is a little too big or small, if you adjust the reading accordingly.
Major finding: An arm cuff that’s one size too small in children will artificially elevate blood pressure 5 mm Hg, while one size too large will drop it 5 mm Hg.
Study details: A prospective study of 137 children.
Disclosures: There was no outside funding, and the lead investigator reported having no disclosures.
