Prostate CE-TRUS Evaluation with Whole Mount Prostatectomy Correlation

Key clinical point: Contrast-enhanced ultrasonography demonstrates greater accuracy than baseline imaging in diagnosing.

Major finding: CE-TRUS parameters demonstrated significant increases in the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (Az) with the highest Az for CE-power Doppler (0.66) and flash replenishment imaging (0.64) (p=0.04 for comparison to baseline)

Study details: 58 subjects who underwent contrast enhanced transrectal ultrasound (CE-TRUS) and subsequent radical prostatectomy with whole-mount pathology were included in the study, and underwent evaluation with baseline TRUS and again during CE-TRUS with intravenous infusion of perflutren lipid microsphere.
